Justin Bieber Takes To Instagram With A Message

May 2024 · 3 minute read

Justin Bieber posted an Instagram picture of a castle with an eerie, grey backdrop yesterday, but it’s not the photo he shared that has people talking – It’s the caption along with it.

In the caption, Justin takes a stand against award shows and the way they’ve negatively affected the music industry.

This interpretation Justin gives on awards shows isn’t one that most viewers ever consider. To us, awards shows are a time for us to sit on twitter, make trends for our faves, and celebrate when they receive awards. We look at it as a way to see our favorite artist get awarded for their hard work, and in a way, we feel that we get some credit for their accomplishments, too. It’s a perfect way for us to get involved in their career, as well as the industry as a whole. And in the end, it’s all in good fun for us. But is it like this with the artists?

As Justin said, the entire experience is fake, which is understandable when put into perspective. When artists lose, they have to force a smile for the camera, join in the applause, and pretend to be proud of their fellow nominees. And when they win, they have to make a happy little speech, congratulate those who lost, and talk about what a talented group of nominees they were up against. But how much of this is genuine and how much of it is played up for the audience?

On top of this, awards shows have seem to become a whole different experience than what they used to be. They come with so much competition, anger, and drama now, people are watching them for new reasons. They want to see if Nicki is going to call out Miley again, or if Kanye’s going to start up some new controversy. And according to Justin, the stars play into this idea, too.

Some might argue that Justin Bieber has gone off the deep end at this point, and that his opinions are far fetched and silly, and his career is doomed, and he’s in the industry for the wrong reasons, but an Instagram post like this makes it seem like it’s the exact opposite. Justin wants to be recognized for his talent – Not how many records he can sell, or how many fans vote for him, or how many times a camera pans to him during the VMA’s. He wants to be understood. And for that, you have to respect him.
