Laverne Cox in Mark Bouwer at the Emmys: Grecian goddess or toga toga?

At last night’s Emmys, Laverne Cox of OITNB wore a custom Marc Bouwer gown that looked positively gorgeous. She usually wears the same look but mixed it up for last night’s event. Instead of a cocktail dress and heavy bangs, Laverne went for a Grecian-inspired white gown that was tailored beautifully. Laverne looks amazing here! The gown drapes and hugs in all the right places, and she wore the dress with utter confidence. I was also happy to see her style her hair back to let the dress shine.

Uzo Aduba won the category for Guest actress in a comedy series (she’s been upgraded to full cast member for OITNB‘s third season). Uzo brought the glamour in this strapless red Christian Siriano gown that ended in a fury of ruffles. This dress went right to the top of the list without bursting over the waterfall of excess.

Samira Wiley went simple with her styling in this bright yellow, strapless mermaid dress. I think she may have been best dressed last night. Samira always brings it.

Taryn Manning decided to dress like an Emmy statue. This is a bit much, and the bold color somehow washes her out. Her hair and makeup are all wrong. Frosted pink lipstick and (maybe) an attempted smokey eye did her nor favors. Taryn looks very pretty when she goes subtle. Last night was not that type of night.

Natasha Lyonne often sticks to the same type of dress, but she still looked great her in this royal blue custom Opening Ceremony number. She knows what works for her even if she often errs on the side of conservative. Natasha tamed her curls, and her makeup looks fantastic.
